How Does Lavilin Deodorant Cream eliminate body odour?

Body odour is largely caused by the Corynebacterium species of bacteria on the surface of the skin. These bacteria can decompose fatty acids and proteins in sweat, resulting in an unpleasant body odour. Lavilin uses patented bio-balancing technology to neutralise the odour-causing bacteria activity and inhibit body odour with ingredients such as castor seed oil, calendula, zinc, triethyl citrate from citric acid. At the same time, it does not interfere with the normal function of the sweat glands.

Lavilin extracts natural herbal ingredients from plants to nourish and soothe, contains no irritating substances, and is free of ethanol alcohol, aluminium salts, sodium bicarbonate, magnesium hydroxide, phthalates and parabens.

Antiperspirant deodorants work by blocking the sweat pores to limit the moist environment for the bacteria to operate. This traps the sweat and toxins inside the body. Blocking the sweat glands sometimes leads to irritated or swollen skin and can have long-term detrimental effects.  Lavilin works on the odour-causing bacteria while replenishing the good bacteria on the skin and does not clog pores.

When is the best time to apply Lavilin Deodorant Cream?

The best time to apply is in the evening after a shower so it can work on the odour-causing bacteria on the skin’s surface overnight.  This is when your body temperature is lower and you sweat less. It isalso best not to apply just after you’ve shaved your armpits when your skin maybe grazed or cut – leave that until another day.

How long does Lavilin Cream last?

Lavilin Deodorant Cream can keep you odour-free for up to 7 days, although this depends on each individual. Lavilin is so effective because it contains microbial inhibitors and probiotic ingredients that neutralise bad odour at the source.

People last anywhere from a few days to over a week. We have customers in hot, sweaty Darwin who get 6 days out of Lavilin. Yew beauty.

Is Lavilin Deodorant Cream an antiperspirant?

Lavilin Deodorant Cream is not an antiperspirant. Sweating is good for your health. It not only effectively discharges toxins, maintains the health of the immune system, inhibits acne, but also regulates body temperature.

Antiperspirants use aluminium salt or chemical ingredients to inhibit sweating so that the excretion in the sweat cannot flow out. The toxins accumulate in the gland, and enter the blood circulation again, which may affect the health of your body. Lavilin does not interfere with the normal function of the sweat glands, so you can have healthy peace of mind.

Will Lavilin Deodorant Cream need to be reapplied after showering, swimming or surfing?

Bathing, swimming, surfing and exercise will not affect the effects of Lavilin, so no need to repeat the application. After you have initially applied, by the time of your next shower the cream has already done its work on the odour-causing bacteria and is fine to wash off.

Reapplication is only necessary when the odour starts coming back.

Can I still use soap under my arms in the shower?

By the time of your next shower the cream has already done its work on the odour-causing bacteria and is fine to wash your pits as normal. Some prefer to use just water, so you can experiment to see what works best for you. It is best to use a gentle, soap-free body wash and just use your hand rather than scrubbing, so you have as least disruption to the top layers of skin as possible.

What if you have very hairy armpits?

Lavilin can still be used very effectively on hairy armpits without all the extra gloopy mess. Just a very tiny smudge rubbed on the skin through the parted hair in the centre of the pit should do the trick.

Does Lavilin Deodorant Cream need to be used frequently?

Lavilin Deodorant Cream can keep you odour-free for up to 7 days, although this depends on each individual. Every person’s skin chemistry is different. One application can last some for more than a week, while others may need to reapply after 4 or 5 days. Only when the smell appears again does Lavilin need to be reapplied. In the beginning if there is a longer settling in time, it is fine to apply daily until you’re able to stretch it out over more days.

Does Lavilin Deodorant Cream contain alcohol?

Lavilin products do not contain the volatile alcohol ethanol which dries out the skin. Benzyl Alcohol belongs to the group of organic compounds called alcohols. While they share the name with the ethanol found in wine, beer and spirits, it is not the same alcohol. The organic benzyl alcohol compound has a different chemical structure and behaves very differently to ethanol.

Do Lavilin deodorants contain aluminium salts?

Lavilin products are completely free of aluminium salts. Aluminium salts can block the body’s sweat glands so the waste in the sweat deposits in the body and may affect the health of the body. Lavilin also contains no irritating ingredients such as ethanol alcohol, bicarb soda, magnesium hydroxide, parabens, paraben preservatives, and phthalates.

What is the difference between the deodorant creams?

The underarm creams are all the same effective formula but only differ slightly in the amount of scent. The Sport one smells slightly stronger when in the jar and the Women’s is the mildest. The fragrance goes to a nothing smell soon after applying so you can still use your favourite perfume or cologne without it clashing.  Anyone can use any version.

The Vegan Deodorant Cream contains no fragrance and also uses a different probiotic that doesn’t have milk products as a base.

The Foot Deodorant Cream uses the same ingredients as the Sport, Women’s and Men’s varieties, but is a bit more concentrated and slightly stronger. This one is good for getting on top of those more stubborn odour-causing bacteria.

The 72Hr Stick and 72Hr Roll-on deodorants are different formulas to the deodorant cream and last about half as long.

How long will one jar of Lavilin Deodorant Cream last me?

One small jar of deodorant cream will last for about 12 months if a tiny smudge is used twice a week according to the directions. This makes Lavilin a much cheaper option than most other deodorants on the market.

What about preservatives in Lavilin Deodorant Cream?

Cosmetic products require preservatives in small amounts to prevent them from spoiling via bacterial, fungal and mould growth. Contaminated cosmetic products can also lead to skin infections. Lavilin deodorants meet strict CTFA (Cosmetic, Toiletry and Fragrance Association)-certified ingredients. All products are manufactured in accordance with international ISO 9001:2000 and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) standards. Lavilin deodorant cream does not contain parabens, phthalates or ethanol alcohol and is hypoallergenic.

Can I use Lavilin Deodorant Cream during pregnancy and breastfeeding?

Lavilin uses natural extracts without irritating chemicals or strong fragrance. Advanced bio-balancing technology allows Lavilin to work only on the skin surface, so it can be used safely during pregnancy and throughout breastfeeding. Lavilin is also recommended by international physicians for patients undergoing mastectomy, but best to check with your own doctor.

Will Lavilin Deodorant Cream stain my clothes?

Absolutely not! Another bonus of this product is because you use such a tiny amount, it stays on the skin and will not affect your clothing. No more goopy messy deodorants to ruin your clothes: hooray!

What about the talc in Lavilin Deodorant Cream? Isn't that bad for you?

Talc has gotten a lot of bad press in the last few decades, mainly sparked off by the lawsuits against Johnson and Johnson. In the old days the talc wasn’t refined very well and was often contaminated, plus it is thought there is a risk if inhaled or if the particles travel up into the female reproductive organs. Both of those avenues are impossible with Lavilin and is considered as a safe application of talc.

The medical grade pure talc in Lavilin is the larger particle size and does not cross the dermal/skin barrier, plus in paste form, so cannot be inhaled, especially in the minuscule quantities that are applied. It is also the highest grade and most purified Pharmaceutical grade of talc, the same that is used in medicine tablets and capsules as a filler, in vitamin supplements, and in many food applications. We already consume talc in our food products as it passes harmlessly through the gastrointestinal tract.

Putting the Lavilin cream on your armpits or feet where it remains on the surface of your skin and simply washed off is a perfectly safe one.

Why haven't I heard of this miracle before?

Although Lavilin has been available on the international market for over 40 years, received awards and been marketed in other countries, it was only briefly available in Australia about 20 years ago. We’ve been bringing the new range of Lavilin’s Total Odour Protection to Aussies since 2018 and excited to be making a difference to thousands of Aussie armpits 💪

Help it's not working

Some people can transfer easily over to use Lavilin, while others may take a little longer. There are some troubleshooting tips on our instructions page – Lavilin.com.au/instructions. Some products can have long term effects on the skin so the best thing you can do for your skin is to have a longer period of rest time with no deodorant product whatsoever. This gives the skin’s pH time to rebalance, plus allow for a greater diversity of bacteria to inhabit the healthy skin’s microflora. Then when you start back up with the Lavilin cream, apply daily for a few days or weeks as needed, then see if you can start stretching the number of days out between applications.
